Position Summary

The Equipment Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and preventive care of golf course maintenance equipment. Working independently, this position ensures all equipment is safe, reliable, and operating efficiently to support daily golf course operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain gasoline, diesel, electric, and hydraulic-powered turf equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, including oil changes, lubrication, sharpening, and scheduled inspections.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.
  • Prioritize equipment repairs with the Superintendent to support operational needs.
  • Set up and modify new equipment as required.
  • Repair and adjust engines, hydraulic systems, cutting units, and mowing equipment.
  • Sharpen reels, bed knives, and mower blades.
  • Monitor fuel inventory and equipment usage.
  • Assist with equipment budgeting, capital planning, and replacement recommendations.
  • Maintain an organized parts inventory and clean, safe maintenance facility.
  • Ensure proper handling and disposal of oils, fuels, and other regulated materials.
  • Support grounds staff with equipment operation and maintenance guidance as needed.
  • Perform equipment inspections on the golf course.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Technical school certification or related mechanical repair experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of gasoline, diesel, electric, and hydraulic equipment systems.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and grinding equipment.
  • Basic math and recordkeeping skills.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and environmental compliance.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform manual labor for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Work Schedule

Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency situations as needed. Reliable and predictable attendance is required.
